FAQ

Questions, answered.

Everything you need to know about launching and running your own hyper-local marketplace on Upzaar.

Getting started

How do I launch my marketplace?

Describe your marketplace in a sentence and get in touch — we'll draft your storefront, branding, and starter categories with you, and get you to invite your vendors and go live, fully live, fully yours, typically in under a week.

What kinds of marketplaces can I build?

Any hyper-local marketplace — digital goods, physical goods like food, grocery, or retail, or service-based businesses like salons and service pros. Everything is built around a specific city or community, not one global marketplace.

Do I need technical skills to set this up?

No. Tell us what you're building in plain language and we'll get your storefront and branding set up with you, and the Unified Management Portal handles vendors, commission, and reporting without needing a developer. If you do want full control over the frontend, Upzaar Headless exposes the same platform as an API.

Commission & ownership

How much does Upzaar cost?

Plans start at $79/mo for a web-only marketplace, scaling up as you add vendors and unlock native customer, vendor, and driver apps — plus a 2% platform fee on order volume, dropping to 1% on our Scale plan. Still a fraction of what the big aggregators take. See the pricing page for the full breakdown.

How does commission work?

You set your own commission rate — flat across your whole marketplace, or configured per vendor or category — directly in the Unified Management Portal. Unlike the big aggregators, Upzaar doesn't set your rate for you.

Who owns the marketplace — Upzaar or me?

You do. Your marketplace runs under your own brand, with white-labeled apps, your own commission, and your own vendor relationships. Upzaar provides the infrastructure underneath it.

Apps & branding

Can I use my own brand?

Yes — the customer, vendor, and driver apps are all white-labeled, so your marketplace looks and feels like your own product, not "powered by Upzaar."

What apps do my vendors and customers actually use?

Customers order through a native, white-labeled ordering app. Vendors manage incoming orders and their own catalog from the vendor app. If your marketplace needs delivery, drivers use a dedicated driver app for navigation and fulfillment. You manage all of it from the Unified Management Portal.

Do I need the driver app if I don't offer delivery?

No — the driver app is only relevant for marketplaces that need fulfillment. Pickup-only or service-based marketplaces, like bookings or in-store service, can run without it.

Platform & features

Can vendors manage their own products and pricing?

Yes. Each vendor adds and edits their own products, variants, add-ons, and availability from the vendor app — you oversee the whole marketplace's catalog from the Unified Management Portal without managing individual listings yourself.

Does Upzaar handle vendor and driver payouts?

Yes. The Unified Management Portal tracks what every vendor and driver has earned and handles payouts directly, reconciled automatically once you've connected your own payment gateway.

Does Upzaar include loyalty and rewards features?

Yes — cashback, digital loyalty cards, membership tiers, referrals, gift cards, and more, all marketplace-wide and spendable with any vendor, not locked to one seller. See the full list on the customer app page.
