Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 6, 2026
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use the Upzaar website, the Unified Management Portal (“UMP”), and the customer, vendor, and driver applications (together, the “Service”), operated by Buttercloud LLC (“Upzaar,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
It is Upzaar’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we collect while operating the Service. We have adopted this Privacy Policy to explain what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances we may disclose it to third parties. This Privacy Policy, together with our Terms of Service, sets forth the general rules and policies governing your use of the Service.
Website Visitors
Like most website operators, we collect non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. We collect this to better understand how visitors use the Service. We may release this information in aggregate, without identifying any individual visitor.
We also collect potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for visitors, which we disclose under the same circumstances as other personally-identifying information described below.
Personally-Identifying Information
Certain visitors interact with the Service in ways that require us to collect personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information depends on the nature of the interaction — for example, if you use the contact form or request a demo, we ask for your name and email address, and if you sign up to run a marketplace on Upzaar, we collect what’s needed to set up and operate your account.
We only disclose personally-identifying information to employees, contractors, and affiliated organizations that need it to process it on our behalf, and that have agreed not to disclose it to others. We never rent or sell this information. We may disclose it if required to do so by law, or in the good-faith belief that disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with a legal process, protect our or a third party’s property or rights, or protect the safety of the public or any person.
Location Data
Upzaar’s driver, vendor, and customer apps may collect and use location data on an opt-in basis, where it’s needed to power features like order tracking and delivery dispatch. You control this through your device’s permission settings, and can disable it at any time — some features (like live delivery tracking) won’t work correctly without it.
Marketplace Operators, Vendors & Customers
If you use Upzaar to run, sell on, or shop a hyper-local marketplace, we process the account, order, and transaction data needed to operate that marketplace on your behalf. Each marketplace operator sets their own commission and manages their own vendor and customer relationships — we provide the underlying infrastructure and only use this data to run the Service, not to sell to third parties.
Data Sharing With Third Parties
We may share personal or sensitive data with:
- Integration partners — like mapping and payment gateway providers, to power location-based features and checkout
- Analytics services — which receive anonymized, aggregated data to help us understand usage and performance
We may also collect and publicly display aggregate statistics about how the Service is used, without disclosing personally-identifying information in those reports.
Security
The security of your personal information matters to us. We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards — including encryption and access controls — to protect it. That said, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, and take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize it once it’s no longer needed.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to store your preferences and understand how the Service is used. You can disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work properly if you do. Continuing to use the Service without changing your settings means you accept our use of cookies.
Links to External Sites
The Service may contain links to external sites we don’t operate. We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit — we aren’t responsible for the content or privacy practices of sites we don’t control.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If a change is material, we’ll let you know before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
